Important: If you are using HandiSoft Online (on Access Evo), do not apply the updates. Your subscription and updates are maintained by The Access Group.
Download and install programs from our website
Full versions and updates are available on the website:
Am I running the ODB or SQL version of HandiSoft?
β
You can also access the HandiSoft Updates page from your HandiSoft module under Help, About, Software Updates.
β
To install or upgrade your HandiSoft modules:
Important: Ensure you have a current working backup of your \HSoft folder and all users have exited all HandiSoft and Microsoft programs before installing updates.
Note: Updates are not full versions and can only be installed if you have installed the full version. I.e., if you are on V1.00, you can update directly to V1.0x without the incremental updates.
Tip: If the HandiSoft Upgrades page displays the program version as 1.00, it means no updates are available.
Download the upgrade
From your HandiSoft updates website from above, click HandiSoft Upgrades.
Click on the product name. e.g. HandiTax. If you have received the download link via an email, follow from step 3.
If the download does not begin automatically, you can try a different browser.
Follow the prompts and save the file to a location where it can be run later, i.e. Downloads. We do not recommend saving the download in your HSoft folder.
Complete the installation
Using File Explorer, locate the download, then double-click the executable, e.g. HT107all.exe.
Follow the on-screen prompts in the installation wizard.
When prompted for an install path, ensure it points to the correct HSoft folder (the parent directory, not a subfolder). See how to change the install path when installing HandiSoft programs if applicable.
Click Install (or Finish) to complete the wizard. The installation may take a few minutes to complete.
Open the updated HandiSoft module and go to Help, About to confirm the version number matches the update you installed.
If you are in a multi-user or networked environment, notify other users that the update is complete, and they can now reopen HandiSoft and Microsoft programs.
Installation issues
The following errors can occur during installation:
An unknown decompression can occur if the HandiSoft Data Agent service is running or antivirus software is blocking the installation. Confirm all users have fully exited all HandiSoft and Microsoft programs before repeating the Complete the installation steps again.
Installation failing due to unzip32.dll error can also occur when users are still accessing HandiSoft programs during installation.
HDASLxx.exe or HDSA.exe is in use when installing updates occurs when users are still logged in to Access Ledger, Access Tax, or Access Practice Management. Confirm all users have fully exited these programs before proceeding.
If in doubt, restore the backup of your HSoft folder that you took before installing. This will revert your installation to its previous working state before completing the installation again.
Note: You can download full versions of prior-year software.
