The error, ‘A decompression error has occurred. Unknown decompression error’ will occur if there are HandiSoft or Microsoft programs open during the installation or upgrade process.
Is HandiSoft Data Agent Service running?
Open a Run command by pressing the Windows key + R on your keyboard.
Type services.msc and click OK.
If HandiSoft Data Agent is Running right-click and Stop, and then Install HandiSoft and then Right Click Start.
This can cause important files not to update and result in errors within the modules. To resolve the error, reboot the server and re-install the upgrade.
If you’re unable to reboot the server, complete the following:
Note: This must be completed on the server machine.
Open a Run command by pressing the Windows key + R on your keyboard.
Type compmgmt.msc and click OK.
In the Computer Management window go to the Shared Folders then Open Files.
In the right-hand window find any HSoft files that are open. Right click on these files and select Close Open File.
Once all HSoft files are closed you can run the install again.
Notes:
Moving the installer/setup to the server rather than running it via the network or from a workstation may assist in some scenarios.
Ensure the HSoft folder is added to exclusion/exceptions list if you have an Anti-Virus installed, as this may affect files being installed/extracted.
If the applications are 0kb after install, the Anti-Virus may have caused issues, so it is best to rename the exe file for your program and reinstall.
