HandiSoft Online (on Access Evo) - Check your local printer settings for use in Citrix

Before connecting to a Citrix session, check your local printer set up

Use this guide to fix missing printers, blank pages, or freezing when printing in Citrix. You will complete all checks on your local computer, not inside Citrix.

Use Log Me Off to completely end your Citrix session before you start.

What to do based on the issue

  • Printers missing in Citrix: complete all steps in this guide.

  • Blank pages in Citrix: Use Log Me Off and reconnect your Citrix session.

  • Session freezes when printing: set the printer to Use Printer Offline, then reconnect.

  • Blank page from local test: contact local IT.

  • Printer missing on your computer: contact local IT.

  • Printer appears in Citrix but still prints blank: see Printing issues within Citrix.

Important: Complete all checks on the local machine - not inside Citrix.

Check your printer is listed

Follow these steps:

  1. Open your printer settings.

    • Windows 11: Go to Start, Settings, Bluetooth & devices, Printers & scanners, click on your printer, then click More devices and printer settings.

    • Windows 10: Go to Start, Settings, Devices, Printers & scanners.

  2. Find your usual printer in the list.

    • If it shows Ready, go to the next section.

    • If it shows Offline, continue to the next section to fix it.

    • If it is missing, contact your IT support. The printer driver needs to be installed on your computer.

Set an offline printer to 'Use Printer Offline'

Follow these steps if your printer shows Offline:

  1. Click the printer name.

  2. Click Open print queue in Windows 11, or Open queue in Windows 10.

  3. Click Printer in the menu bar, then select Use Printer Offline.

  4. Close the queue window.

This stops Windows trying to connect to the printer. You can undo this later by repeating the steps and clearing Use Printer Offline setting.

Set a physical default printer

Follow these steps to confirm your default printer:

  1. Check which printer is set as default.

  2. Make sure it is a physical printer, not Microsoft Print to PDF, OneNote, or another virtual printer.

  3. If needed, click your physical printer, then click Manage, then Set as default.

  4. Go to the next section below.

Print a test page locally

Follow these steps to confirm the printer works before reconnecting to Citrix:

  1. Click your physical printer.

  2. Click Manage.

  3. Click Print test page.

  4. Check the result:

    • If the page prints, your printer is working. Reconnect to Citrix.

    • If nothing prints, make sure the printer is turned on and connected to your network. Contact your IT if needed.

    • If a blank page prints, this is a local printer or driver issue. Contact your IT.

Reconnect to Citrix and test printing

Follow these steps:

  1. Reconnect to your Citrix session.

  2. Open any application.

  3. Attempt to print a document and check that your printer appears.

  4. Print your document.

  5. Check the result:
