By default, Document Manager folders and files are stored in the Hsoft/Doc/DocBase directory on a local drive in the computer where Practice Manager is installed. This may not be suitable for your computer environment. For example, you may prefer to store your document files on a network server.
The following procedure describes how you would move your document files and folders to another location.
Ensure all users are out of all Handisoft applications before commencing.
Use Windows Explorer to copy the DocBase directory, under Hsoft/Doc, and all its contents to the new location.
Delete or rename the old DocBase directory.
Start Practice Manager\HandiSoft.
Click Options, Document Manager.
On the Document Manager window, under Select folder location for DocBase, select Other Location.
Click Browse and select the DocBase folder in the new location. Note: The folder must be named 'DocBase'.
Click OK.
Document Manager will now access the documents and folders at the new location.
Note: If Word Merges are slow after changing to a new location review the steps below on how to remove document templates from Word templates that are used to create merges.
You will need to remove the Document templates from the Word Templates that you are using to create merges:
Open the Word template directly from Word.
Open the Word Options window - this can be done by entering Options in the search field.
Click Add-ins.
In the Manage field click on Templates in the list and Go.
5. On the Template and Add-ins window delete the path found in the Document template field and click OK.
6. Save the Word document and click Yes to any messages that appear. Note: Complete these steps even if there is no path in the field.
