HandiLedger - Cannot Read Transaction.dat in HandiLedger

โ€‹To rebuild transaction details, follow the steps below:

  1. Ensure all users have quit their HandiSoft programs, and there is a backup available if you're not using HandiSoft Online.

  2. Only 1 user is to log in to HandiLedger (Practice Manager/HandiSoft must be closed).

  3. Select the Entity, then go to Tools, Rebuild Database Files.

  4. In the Selected Entity data area, tick Transaction Details only.

  5. Click Rebuild and follow the prompts.

If you receive an error 'Cannot Rebuild', this indicates that the rebuild has failed. Follow the steps below.

Note: Two folders require checking for the REB files.

  1. Use File Explorer to navigate to the HSoft\Data folder location.

  2. In the type column find the files with the type REB.

  3. Rename or delete the REB files.

  4. Within the Data folder, select the WHO folder.

  5. Search for the Entity code, and click into the folder.

  6. In the type column, find the files with the type REB.

  7. Rename or delete the REB files.

  8. Once all the REB files have been renamed or deleted, re-run the Rebuild.
