External Exception E0434352
The ATO provides an embeddable client that is a piece of software that is integrated into our software that allows customers to lodge using the SBR PLS systems.
This embeddable client uses the Microsoft dot Net Framework for many of its functionalities.
The .NET Framework provides a run-time environment called the common language runtime, which runs the code and provides services that make the development process easier.
Exception code E0434352 is the exception code used by the common language runtime to represent most exceptions. This makes it difficult to troubleshoot.
The exception may be application related or environmental (your computer network).

If you receive this error, firstly determine if this error is only occurring on one tax return.
If it’s only occurring on one tax return, then a '-' negative/minus symbol within the tax form may be triggering this error.
To troubleshoot this:
You’ll need to open the return, press the Errors button (or SBR Errors buttons in any year prior to 2017).
Navigate to Reports, Report Navigator, SBR Payload Files
Find the reference code of the return experiencing the error eg. SAGE0001
On the right hand side, you can view the details in the payload. Find the '-' in the details.
Remove the '-' and check the Errors again.
Example:
Tip: Click View File and use the search function to find the '-' in the payload.
The '-' may appear as '0' (zero) in the tax return. Double-click on the field containing '0' to see if it displays as a '-'.
