Why are the Function keys not working?

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Depending on your keyboard, you may need to check that the Function keys are enabled. There are a number of ways to enable the function keys.

  • Press and hold the Fn key and the F1 key together.

  • Press and hold the Ctrl key and the F1 key together.

  • Press and hold the Shift key and the F1 key together.

  • Google how to use the function keys for your specific keyboard.

  • Have your IT disable the Fn key through the System BIOS.

You can also try using an on-screen keyboard.

  1. Open a Run command by pressing the Windows key and R on your keyboard.

  2. Type osk and click OK.

  3. Click FN to show the Function keys.

  4. Click on the relevant item then click F1 or F5 from the on-screen keyboard.

If the on-screen keyboard does not work, you must reinstall the HandiSoft application from the latest version as the .chm files (help files) may be missing. See Access HandiSoft: How to download and install HandiSoft programs? for guidance.
