When a customer has a second HandiTax installation (ie. An installation on their office server and a separate installation on a personal laptop not networked to the server), and they are using the new transport layer for lodging, Access ATO Gateway (AAG) (previously Access Authentication with Enhanced ATO services), they may find themselves unable to lodge/prefill on the second installation.
When users first open HandiTax 2024 with the Access ATO Gateway (AAG) method enabled, a data file is created in the HSoft\Apps\SBR\AAG folder. The file can only be auto-generated once. This means if there is another HSoft version installed as a stand-alone for the same customer/customerID, when a user logs into this installation, a secret pair will NOT be auto generated, and the user will not be able to lodge through AAG.
The file takes on the name profile as the first four digits from their HandiSoft Client Reference and the five-digit Customer ID. For this example, AAAA-NNNNN.dat - our internal instance is called HAND-12216.dat.
To resolve:
Navigate to the HSoft\Apps\SBR\AAG folder for the installation where the secret pair file was auto-generated. Filename e.g. HAND_12216.dat.
Copy the secret pair file from the AAG folder.
Paste the file into the stand-alone installation’s HSoft\Apps\SBR\AAG folder.
Log into HandiTax 2024 using the stand-alone installation. Go to Lodgment -> Set ATO Credentials.
5. Ensure the Access ATO Gateway option is selected, enter the Keystore Password and click Ok.
6. Close HandiTax 2024 then log back in to HandiTax 2024.
7. This installation should now be able to lodge through AAG.
Alternatively, they can change the lodgment method on the second computer to the ATO Credential Authentication method (AS4).
Note: This will not affect networked users.
