Issue impacting Partnership Income Tax Return (PTR) 2025 lodgments

The ATO has identified an issue that prevents Partnership Income Tax Return (PTR) 2025 lodgments from being successfully transmitted when an International Dealings schedule is attached.

Lodgments are currently receiving an Error: 'Fault from Agency VR.ATO.PTR.431002 (Interest expenses required)'.

To rectify this, the ATO is deploying a fix on 19-20 July. The ATO apologises for any inconvenience.

Error: 'SBR.GEN.FAULT.FAULTFROMAGENCY - A fault has been detected within the agency processing systems, which was not related to system availability. Record the details of the message and contact the agency service desk. The ATO have not processed the request due to an ATO SBR Error or Issue. Please try again later.'

The above rejection error may occur when lodging a tax return in HandiTax.

  • Ensure HandiTax is on the latest version. The latest versions can be found on our website. You can get to the updates page within HandiTax from the Help, About, Software Updates. This window is also where you will see what version you're currently running.

  • Go to Options, Set ATO credentials then select Access ATO Gateway. Enter the keystore password, OK. Restart HandiTax and try the lodgment again.

  • Check the Tax Agent Portal to see if this return has already been accepted. If the error still occurs, view the validation report under Reports, Report Navigator. Provide the Transaction ID number and a Message ID number to the ATO for investigation. The ATO will be able to advise you as to how to resolve this. We suggest speaking with a second-tier consultant.
