HandiTax - How do I check if a lodgment was lodged as a test lodgment?

Updated over a month ago

In HandiTax, the status of a tax return may be Lodged, but this does not necessarily mean the return was transmitted to the ATO if a test lodgment was performed. After a successful communication with the ATO, HandiTax asks if you would like to update the Status, do not select Yes when performing a test lodgment.

To check a test lodgment was processed, follow the steps below.

  1. Go to Reports, Report Navigator then click the SBR Lodgment tab.

  2. Use the Find button to locate the lodgment by either Client Reference, Date or TFN.

  3. For a test lodgment the Status will show as Accepted, however, the Type will be Validate.

  4. For normal lodgments the Type will be Submit.

5. To lodge the tax return again, you will be required to remove the SBR Transaction ID and change the lodgment status to Ready to Lodge.

6. In the Clients tax return details window, if the Lodged date and Notice Rec'd date contain information, please the data from these fields.

7. Click Save and Close.

8. Lodge the return without the SBR PreLodge ticked.

If the lodgment was accepted and was not a test lodgment, see the article How to obtain the lodgment status of a return or contact the ATO for further information.
