Folders and subfolders are missing for all users

To recover the folders and subfolders missing for all Users in Document Manager follow steps below:

Note: This process only applies if the folders and subfolders missing in Document Manager are still showing in Hsoft\Doc\DocBase folder on the server. If also missing from this location, please raise a new case online and reference the title of this article.

Deleting REB files

  1. Please ensure that you have made an adequate back up of your data before completing this process.

  2. All users must close all HandiSoft programs.

  3. Navigate to the Hsoft\Data folder.

  4. Sort by Type and delete any files with Type - REB

Important: the above is essential for the process to be successful. If there are no REB files, continue with below process.

Rebuild Document Manager & Verify Clients

  1. Open Document Manager on one computer only.

  2. Go to Tools, Rebuild the Databases.

  3. Tick Main Data and click Rebuild.

  4. Read & Agree to the prompts.

  5. Once complete, go to Tools, Verify Clients.

  6. Review Document Manager to see if the issue has been resolved.

  • If the issue persists, complete the below extra steps.

Create Client Folder (if required)

  1. Go to Tools, Create Client Folder.

  2. Highlight Firm or Prospective Clients.

  3. Click New.

  4. Allocate a name to create a dummy folder.

  5. Click OK then click OK.

  6. Answer Yes to Apply the change, and proceed to complete the process.


Review Document Manager

  • Request a number of users to review Document Manager to make sure the issue has been resolved.

  • If the issue is resolved go to Tools, Create client folder and Delete the dummy folder created in steps 11-16.

  • Review Document Manager again, to ensure all folders and sub folders are visible.

  • If issue still exists create a case via our Customer Success Portal
