HandiRegister - Rebuild data files in HandiRegister

In HandiRegister, you will need to run a rebuild if you experience the following errors:

  • Data is incomplete

  • Invalid data segment

  • Invalid record ID

  • Not node page at position

The error will point to a particular file causing the issue. This file will assist in determining which file you must rebuild.

Common HandiRegister data files:

  • HrAsic.dat - ASIC databases

  • HrMinRes.dat and HrMinResCust.dat - Minutes and Resolutions:

  • Clients.XX - Client database

  • ClientExtra.XX - Client Extra

  • Options.dat - Options database

  • HsDocSrvFile.dat - Document Manager database

Rebuild HandiRegister data

Important:

  • Make note of the file indicated by the error message.

  • Ensure that you have an recent working backup of your HSoft folder.

  • All users have exited all HandiSoft programs.

  1. Navigate to the HSoft\Data folder. Sort the files by file Type. In the Type column, find the files with the type REB.

  2. If there are REB files present, right-click, then Rename any REB files to include the date, i.e., Options.dat_30-09-2025. If REB files are not present, continue to the next step.

  3. Get one user to open HandiRegister.

  4. Go to Tools, Rebuild Database files.

  5. Tick Rebuild, then untick ALL to just select your specific file to rebuild.

  6. Click Ok then read and agree to the prompts.

  7. Complete the process and test if your error is resolved.

  8. If your error message still occurs, raise a new case online.
