Error: 'invalid record id at position xxxxx'

The steps to follow when you are unable to open HandiLedger due this error are:

[Note: xxxxx above represents the individual path where the Hsoft directory resides]

  1. all users to close all HandiSoft programs

  2. navigate to and open the Hsoft, Data files on the server drive

  3. locate and rename the Entity.Dat file

  4. go to and open the Hsoft, Data directory on the backup prior to the error appearing

  5. locate the Entity.Dat file in the backup and copy and paste to the Hsoft, Data directory on the server drive

  6. open HandiLedger
