HandiTax - Incorrect Format when entering dividend value in HandiTax

Updated over 2 weeks ago

In HandiTax, when entering large values in the Unfranked, Franked, or Frank Credit labels on the Dividends schedule or the Dividend item in the individual tax return, you may encounter an Incorrect format error.

This happens when the value exceeds the character limit of the field. These labels accept a maximum of nine characters only (including cents).

If you can, you can split the total value across two line items.

Incorrect format for Dividends

If the field cannot be split across two line items, you may consider using Access Tax, which has the capacity for increased character limits, or a paper lodgment. We recommend that you contact the ATO for advice on your scenario.
