Resolve the Notify reply connection error

Once you have upgraded to HandiTax 2025 V1.07, Time+Billing V1.01, HandiTrust V1.01 and/or Practice Manager Contact V1.01, the following message may appear once in the bottom right corner of your screen:

'Connection for Notify replies could not be established. Checking for SMS Messages suspended. Click here to resume.'

This message is triggered by previous SMS configuration settings.

Apply the workaround

Follow these steps to stop the message from appearing.

Notes:

  • The workaround is available to users with HandiTax, specifically prior years.

  • This option is not year-specific, so it resolves the issue for 2025.

  • The error will be resolved for all HandiSoft modules in the 2026 V1.00 release.

  1. Log in to the prior year HandiTax 2024.

  2. Go to Tools, SMS Message, Configure SMS.

  3. Change the setting to Open SMS Replies screen manually.

  4. Click Ok to save your changes and close the screen.

  5. The message will no longer appear and the program will stop automatically checking for SMS replies.

Note: Clients cannot reply to SMS messages sent from HandiSoft from the 2025 products.
