Document Manager periodically scans a designated directory to detect any new document files that are put into it. If it detects a file, it alerts you to its presence. You can then move the document to a suitable location in Document Manager.
For example, you could specify a directory accessible to other users as your 'Watch' directory. They could then move or copy documents intended for you to the 'Watch' directory. The Watch Directory is also a holding tray for your scanned documents. This can be set up on your scanner and then in Document Manager.
The default location for the Watch Directory is My Document\HandiSoft, but you can nominate any folder to be your own Watch Directory.
Note: If you are nominating your own watch folder directory, HandiSoft automatically creates a folder called 'HandiSoft' to the nominated location. Therefore you would drop the folder HandiSoft from the path/directory.
Example: New Dir: C:\Dell\ScanDocs
Inside file explorer, the HandiSoft folder has automatically been created.
Using the Watch Directory
From the Document Manager Options menu, click Watch.
Set the Auto Watch Settings. Enter the time interval between the checks for new files in the 'Watch' directory by the Document Manager. Select whether the time is in Seconds or Minutes.
Or select the Open Watch Folder manually checkbox to disable the automatic detection of watch items. You then have to open the Watch folder by clicking on the page icon with a star or select View, Watch Documents.
Tick Use 'My Documents\HandiSoft directory or untick the box and select New Dir:.
Click OK.
When scanned documents or any documents are found in the location that you have selected in Watch Options, the “Documents found in Watch Directory” window will open with a list of the documents.
The documents in the Watch Directory are listed under Document Names. You can highlight them individually, or use your Ctrl or Shift key to highlight multiple documents.
Choose the Client Reference by clicking the ellipsis next to the Reference field to which you want to save these documents.
Select a Folder and click Save.
