HandiConnect - Install and Restart the HandiSoft Connect Service

Updated over 2 months ago

To use HandiSoft Connect, you have to first activate the HandiSoft Connect service on the computer on which your HandiSoft products are installed.

The service must be installed from the local drive (usually C or D). It will not run from a mapped network drive, regardless of whether the mapped network drive is on the server.

If the service is not started on the server, you will get a message:

  • Validation was unsuccessful. Please correct the errors and try again.

Could not connect to your Client Server. Please check that the Client Service is currently running. when you attempt to sign in to HandiConnect.

To resolve:

  1. Ensure that none of your users is running any HandiSoft products.

  2. In File Explorer, navigate to the HSoft\Apps folder on the local drive.

  3. In the HSoft Apps folder, locate the file called InstallHSConnect20NN.exe (or InstallHSConnectSQL20NN.exe for SQL versions of HandiSoft), where NN denotes the year.

  4. Double-click the file.

  5. This will create and then start the HandiSoft Connect service. When the service has been installed and started, you should see this message:

HandiSoft Connect service is starting status message
  6. Check to ensure that the HandiSoft Data Link Client service is running. Go to the Run command (Windows key and R) and type Services.msc.

    Run window with services.msc
  7. Locate the service named HandiSoft Data Link Client 20NN and view the status which should be set to Running.

Check HandiSoft Data Link Client in Services
  8. You have the options to:

    • Stop the service.

      • This may be required when upgrading HandiSoft programs

    • Pause the service.

    • Restart the service.
