HandiTax - The Client Expressions window is blank in HandiTax

The Hsoft\Data\ReportFile.xx contains standard Handisoft Report formats and filters. If there is an issue with this file, reports and client expressions may not function correctly. The file also includes user reports and filters that are used both in HandiTax and HandiSoft (Practice Manager).

​Rebuild the Report file

If corruption occurs, you can run a rebuild in HandiTax under Tools, Rebuild. Tick Reports and click Rebuild, then click OK. Ensure no other HandiSoft programs are running before proceeding further. For further information on rebuilding, refer to the article How to rebuild in HandiTax.

Rename the Report file

If rebuilding the report file fails to bring back your missing expressions, all users are to close out of the program and rename the ReportFile.xx for the affected year to ReportFile.xxOLD (xx denotes the year) located in the HSoft\Data folder. Custom reports and filters will then re-roll from the prior year's ReportFile.xx. Standard Reports and Filters can then be restored by completing another rebuild on the Reports database as specified above.
