HandiTax - Save prior year tax returns into Document Manager from HandiTax

Upon installation of the new year software, all programs are updated to the latest Handisoft version. The folder structure in Document Manager for clients is also updated in the current year. When saving a tax return in the current year in HandiTax, it defaults to the Document Manager path e.g. Clients\Client Ref\202X\. Prior year tax programs utilise different data files to your current year HandiSoft programs.

How to save a prior year tax return in Document Manager:

  1. Open the prior year's HandiTax program and preview the Worksheet copy of the Income Tax Return.

  2. Go to File, Export to PDF.

  3. In the Export to PDF window, clear the Save check box, select the Open with PDF reader check box, and click Generate.

  4. Go to File, Save a Copy.

  5. Save the copy into your Watch directory location, from here it can be filed into the client folder. You can also save the file to a different location and then drag and drop the file into the clients folder in Document Manager.

Note: The default Watch directory is located in the HandiSoft folder which is listed under the Documents folder in Windows i.e. C:\Users\*username*\Documents\HandiSoft or C:\Users\*username*\OneDrive\Documents\HandiSoft.
