When trying to open a document the error 'selected document does not exist' may occur. Please note that the path will relate to your documents and folder locations.
To resolve the error, navigate to the Hsoft/Doc/DocBase/Clients/ folder.
Do you see the folder\document shown in the error message in this folder?
If not, please restore the document from a backup:
For HandiSoft Online users, please see this knowledge article on restoring to a shadow copy .
For HandiSoft Desktop users, to restore the Document Manager folders please do the below:
Search for the missing folder\file in your PC via a File Explorer in case someone has accidently moved the file. If it has been moved, copy or rename it back to the correct path to match Document Manager.
Check the Recycle Bin or your Anti-Virus Quarantine to see if the file has been quarantined or deleted\moved to the Recycle Bin
In a backup, navigate to the Hsoft/Doc/DocBase/Clients folder and locate the missing folders and\or documents. If the folder\document is not in this backup you will need to look in an older backup.
Copy\paste the document from the backup location to the current location.
Ensure all users are closed out of all HandiSoft programs.
One user will open Practice Manager and then Document Manager.
In Document Manager, select Tools, Synchronise and select All. This will bring in the document\folders from the backend through to Document Manager. Once completed users can re-enter the HandiSoft programs.
If you can see the folders and documents in the Hsoft/Doc/DocBase/Clients folder please do the below:
Ensure all users are closed out of all HandiSoft programs.
One user will open Practice Manager and then Document Manager.
In Document Manager, select Tools, Synchronise and select All. This will re-establish the link between the documents\folders in the backend and the HandiSoft programs.
You should now be able to select the documents from within HandiSoft.
