This article explains how to update your EDGE password if it is out of sync with ASIC’s system. To fix this, call ASIC and request an EDGE password reset. The ASIC consultant will ask for your EDGE User ID to confirm your practice. ASIC will then reset your password to match your EDGE User ID. This change can take up to an hour to take effect.
Once ASIC resets your password, your EDGE User ID becomes your temporary password. You must update this in Edge Communication Options so that the DIS Password (EDGE password) matches the DIS User ID (EDGE User ID).
Update an Expired Password
Contact ASIC on 1300 300 630 to request your EDGE password to be reset.
Log in to HandiRegister, go to Options, EDGE Setup.
Input the temporary password into the New password box (same as the User ID).
Select Fix mistake if password has expired, then click Apply, OK. The new password will then move to the current password field.
In this example, the DIS Password is not case sensitive and is always displayed in upper case. The format is always an A followed by five numbers, e.g. A12345.
The EDGE password is only valid for a limited number of logins. It is therefore essential that we specify a password to be used before the EDGE password has expired.
Go to Options, EDGE Setup.
On the EDGE communications Options window, type in a password that you would not have used before in the New Password field. The password must be at least six characters and one digit long (e.g. FLOWER1).
Select Update expired, click Apply, OK.
Caution: When creating a new password, do not use a variation of your previous password, such as FLOWER1 or FLOWER2. If your old password included the word FLOWER, you cannot use it again. Your new password must end with a number.
Information from ASIC specifications in regard to passwords
A DIS (Document Interchange System/EDGE) password must be at least six characters long but not more than 16 characters and must contain at least one alpha, and at least one numeric character. The password is confined to any printable ASCII characters. Lower-case characters are converted to upper case, so the password is not case sensitive.
Once used, a DIS password cannot be used ever again.
When reconnecting to ASIC, the temporary password is used to identify your agency with ASIC. If successful, the password is then changed to a 28-day password and is automatically updated in HandiRegister. EDGE users (or their software) must change passwords every month. (HandiRegister does this automatically for you if your password ends in a numeric character).
