HandiLedger - Import Xero data in HandiLedger

Before you import the data into HandiLedger, you will need to export it from Xero.

This guide provides an overview of the process, ensuring a smooth transition of data between the two platforms.

Export Xero Accounting data

  1. Log in to Xero and go to the Accounting menu, then select Advanced.

  2. Click Export accounting data.

  3. It is recommended to add a code to accounts in your chart of accounts for better organization and to ensure compatibility with other accounting products.

  4. Select the product General Ledger.

  5. Select the date range of the data to export.

  6. Click Download.

  7. Save the file as a CSV file.

Note: If you require assistance in exporting data from XERO, contact the Xero support team.

Import Xero Accounting data into HandiLedger

  1. Log in to HandiLedger and Select your entity and applicable year.

  2. From the Tools menu, go to Import data from ASCII File.

  3. Click General, Import.

  4. If this is the first time importing an ASCII file, you need to create an Import Field Mapping by assigning a mapping name, choosing the separator as Comma, and clicking New.

  5. Enter the mapping fields as required, ensuring proper alignment with the CSV file columns.

  6. Import ASCII files.

  7. Assign a Mapping name and select the separator as Comma to save the configuration.

  8. Click Store, enter a Scheme name, e.g. Xero.

  9. Click File to open your saved Xero exported CSV file.

  10. To start the import, click Run.

  11. Click Errors to display any errors.

  12. Click Close for the entries to import into HandiLedger.

  13. After importing, go to the Tools menu, click Verify Accounts, Start, to ensure the HandiLedger transactions are refreshed.

Tip: For subsequent imports, use the Load option to reuse the saved mapping configuration instead of creating a new one.
