HandiTax - Cannot read Index file when accessing prior years in HandiTax

If your index file is 0KB or prevents access to prior-year HandiTax programs, in a few steps you can easily download a new index file to resolve the issue.


Download a new index file

  1. Open File Explorer and navigate to the HSoft folder.

  2. Rename the HsXX.ind (where XX represents the HandiTax year) to HsXX.ind_<Today's Date>.

  3. Open HandiTax XX, where you will now be prompted to download a new index file.

  4. Enter your Eight-digit Customer Reference code and your five-digit Customer ID.
