If your index file is 0KB or prevents access to prior-year HandiTax programs, in a few steps you can easily download a new index file to resolve the issue.
Download a new index file
Open File Explorer and navigate to the HSoft folder.
Rename the HsXX.ind (where XX represents the HandiTax year) to HsXX.ind_<Today's Date>.
Open HandiTax XX, where you will now be prompted to download a new index file.
Enter your Eight-digit Customer Reference code and your five-digit Customer ID.
