HandiSoft Online - Back up your data manually in HandiSoft Online

Updated over a month ago

If you prefer keeping a backup of your HandiSoft Online data for your records, this will need to be a manual process performed by a user in your practice.

Important: All users must exit HandiSoft programs. You must also monitor each process so that your session remains active. We suggest moving the mouse intermittently.

Note: If you use the SQL version of HandiSoft, it is not possible to obtain a backup copy of the Database manually. However, backups are done internally by Access every 4 hours.

The steps below will guide you on how to back up the Data folder if you are currently on the ODB version of HandiSoft.

Back up the data

  1. Log all users out of all HandiSoft programs.

  2. Click on your Windows icon on the bottom left, select File Explorer.

  3. Click on App (Z:).

  4. Locate the data folder, right-click Copy.

  5. Navigate to your Local Disk, select and open a destination folder where the backup Data folder is to go.

  6. Within the folder, right-click Paste, and the folder will now be copied into the location you have selected.

  7. We cannot estimate a timeframe for performing this function.

  8. Once the copy of the Data folder process is complete, users can now access HandiSoft.

Back up the Documents

Follow the steps below on how to back up the DocBase folder:

  1. All users must be out of ALL HandiSoft programs.

  2. Click on your Windows icon on the bottom left, select File Explorer.

  3. Click on Doc (Y:).

  4. Locate the DocBase folder, right-click Copy.

  5. Navigate to Local Disk, select a folder, and open, where you would like to save the backup DocBase folder.

  6. Within the folder, right-click Paste, and the folder will now be copied into the location you have selected.

Note: If you do not use Document Manager, you can still follow the same process above by copying the \Doc folder from App (Z:).
