Updated over 4 months ago

If the client is deceased, entering the date it occurred will cause the following:

  • The Age field will no longer increase.

  • You will be prompted to set the client type to Non-current.

  • The client’s tax return will have the deceased date auto completed.

  • Only these titles are allowed for a deceased taxpayer:

    • EF (Executor for).

    • RF (Representative for).

    • TF (Trustee for).

Update Clients Detail:

  1. Highlight the Client, and click Edit.

  2. Change the title in the Details section and complete the Deceased field date.

  3. Click Save.

  4. Change the status to non-current, click Yes or No and then click Save.

  5. The return can now be completed and lodged.

Note: If you are completing a tax return for a deceased person, or your spouse died during the year, the ATI amount is automatically adjusted and calculated in the tax return according to the ATO: Adjusted taxable income (ATI) for you and your dependants (Completing a tax return for a deceased person).
