HandiTax - SBR.GEN.FAULT.GENERALERRORINCORE An unhandled error occurred within Core Services in HandiTax

Rejection errors starting with SBR.GEN.FAULT usually mean there’s an issue at the ATO. However, make sure HandiTax is updated to the latest version.

You can check your version and access updates from Help, then About, then Software Updates in HandiTax.

If you're already on the latest version, try lodging again later. You can also check the Tax Agent Portal to see if the return was accepted.

If the error continues, open the Validation Report for the return under Reports, then Report Navigator. You’ll find a Transaction ID and a Message ID. These are unique to your lodgment and can be provided to the ATO for investigation.

We recommend speaking with a second-tier consultant at the ATO, as they can help identify the cause of the error.
