Error codes starting with EM are ATO backend errors. To ensure compatibility with ATO systems:
Confirm you're using the latest version of HandiTax.
Go to Help, then About, then Software Updates in any HandiSoft module.
If you're on the latest version and still receive EM errors:
Open the Validation Report for the return via Reports, then Report Navigator.
Locate the Transaction ID and Message ID. These are unique to the lodgment.
Contact the ATO with these IDs and the error details.
Request to speak with a second-tier consultant who can help identify the cause and advise on resolution.
