The ATO provides an embeddable client that is a piece of software that is integrated into our software, which allows customers to lodge using the SBR PLS systems.
This embeddable client uses the Microsoft .NET Framework for many of its functionalities. The .NET Framework provides a run-time environment called the common language runtime, which runs the code and provides services that make the development process easier.
Exception code E0434352 is the exception code used by the common language runtime to represent most exceptions. This makes it difficult to troubleshoot.
The exception may be application-related or environmental (your computer network).
If you receive this error, first determine if this error is only occurring on one tax return. If it’s only occurring on one tax return, then a negative/minus symbol '-' within the tax form may be triggering this error.
To troubleshoot this:
Select your tax return.
Press the Errors button (or SBR Errors buttons in any year before 2017).
Close out of the return.
Navigate to Reports, Report Navigator, SBR Payload Files.
Find the reference code of the return with the error e.g. SAGE0001.
On the right-hand side, you can view the details in the payload. Find the '-' in the details.
Close the Report Navigator and return to the return.
Go into the form or worksheet that contains the data and remove the '-'.
Click the Errors button again to see if this has resolved your issue.
Tip: Click View File and use the search function to find the '-' in the payload.
The '-' may appear as '0' (zero) in the tax return. Double-click on the field containing '0' to see if it displays as a '-'.
If the above instructions do not fix the issue, take note of any errors when you close and re-open HandiTax in Admin mode. Right-click on the application and choose Run as Admin.
If you get the following error message, and the error only applies to your computer, you will need to run the SBR_DependencyCheck.exe application in your HSoft\Apps folder.
You may receive an application path error as below.
Refresh the Configuration file
All users exit all HandiSoft applications.
Open File Explorer and navigate to the HSoft\Apps folder, locate the file called HT1*exe.config, where * denotes the year, e.g. example Ht18.exe.config. Delete this file.
If you are using the SQL version of HandiSoft, the file will be called HT1*SQL.exe.config. where * denotes the year e.g. Ht17SQL.exe.config. Delete this file.
Log in to HandiTax. The file will regenerate.
Lodge a return to test if the error is resolved.
Rename the SBR folder
All users exit all HandiSoft applications.
Open File Explorer and navigate and go to HSoft\Apps, find the SBR folder and right-click on the folder to rename it to SBROLD.
Download the latest version of the application, taking into account that there is a separate download for the SQL version.
Reinstall the application and complete any updates from the website.
Launch the application and lodge the return to test if the error is resolved.
