HandiTax - Add a substantiation report in HandiTax

You can add a substantiation report to HandiTax and use this when customising your return disclaimer.

Install the Substantiation Report

To install the Substantiation Report complete the below steps:

  1. Click Substantiation Declaration Report and select Download for the template.

  2. Save the Substantiation Report onto your computer.

  3. Open HandiTax and go to Reports, Edit Reports.

  4. Click New.

  5. Name the document, select Type as Estimate, then click Import.

  6. Locate the report in the location you recently saved it to, and click Open.

  7. Click Save.

  8. To edit the wording within the substantiation declaration, click Design.

  9. Double-click inside the Band (that will change to green), and the Cell Details appear for updating.

  10. Edit the wording to suit your business requirements, then click OK.

  11. Click Report, Save, then Report, Execute to test the report.

  12. Highlight a client expression e.g. !Selected or #Tagged the click Select.

  13. Review and Close the report. To make additional changes go back to step nine.

  14. Close the Report Writer.

Apply the Substantiation Report to tax returns

  1. Go to Options, Tax Form Options.

  2. Under the Reference/Custom section, tick the Custom estimate options box, then click Edit.

  3. Click the button beside the Custom user disclaimer, then click the drop-down list. You may also choose to Show disclaimer on the next page.

  4. Click OK.

  5. The substantiation will appear at the end of the worksheet copy.
