HandiLedger - Out of balance by member distributions in HandiLedger

Members, Partners or Beneficiaries' distributions are incorrect

Depending on your entity type, you will have either members, partners or beneficiaries. From the View menu, click Members Details, Partners Details or Beneficiaries Details.

  • Ensure you have all the years set up for them, even if they received a nil distribution in any particular year or have been resigned.

  • Ensure that they have been resigned correctly and have not been deleted or reordered.

  1. Log in to HandiLedger and Select your entity.

  2. For trust entities, from the View menu, click Beneficiaries Details.

  3. If you are missing a year for a beneficiary (even for a resigned beneficiary), highlight the member, click Year > New, enter the missing year, then click Save.

Trust distributions and their relation to Beneficiary Types

  • Transactions for Beneficiary Loan or Non-Equity (UPE) type beneficiaries must be in the account range Capital:

    • Capital account range (4000-4099).

  • Transactions for Corp Beneficiary Equity (UPE) and Corp Beneficiary Equity (Sub Trust) type beneficiaries must be in the account range Equity:

    • Equity Account Ranges (4400-4499).

    Beneficiary Details

Note: All entries in the beneficiary range of accounts must be sub-accounted to the relevant beneficiary. For example, Beneficiary 2 with type beneficiary loan opening balance account code would be 4000.02.
